CHANGE OF PERFORMANCE NOTICE

The Town of Leonardtown, The Leonardtown Business Association, and St. Mary’s County Tourism would like to announce a change of performance for Saturday, May 18 from 12 – 4:00 PM.  The “Superheroes vs Cancer” event previously listed in the “Steppin’ Out in Leonardtown” advertising has been changed to a “Heroes Welcome” concert event, featuring the band Metropolitan Barnyard, specials and discount for military personnel with valid military ID, and displays from local military and auxiliary organizations.

Comprised of retired Air Force band members, Metropolitan Barnyard, will be performing in the Town Square from 1PM to 3PM, bringing a unique perspective to the town's "Heroes" celebration of Armed Forces Day. Covering a broad spectrum of musical styles, they have performed their repertoire of Bluegrass, Country, Gypsy Jazz, Classical, and even a taste of James Brown at private parties and banquets hosted by commanding generals and higher.

In keeping with the day's theme, they will do "America The Beautiful" as an  audience sing along, a medley of service songs honoring veterans in attendance, and close with Orange Blossom Special. Another old country favorite, "I've Been Everywhere", will also hit the mark. Their fiddle player and lead vocalist, Jim Queen is a skilled raconteur, and will weave a narrative relating to the show's theme plus a little comedy besides.

Come and celebrate Armed Forces Day and enjoy a sonic blend of family friendly fun and good time music!
