Mary’s County, Maryland
- On May 24 and 25, 2013, artists and wildlife enthusiasts alike are invited to
attend the 7th Annual Community Foundation of Southern Maryland
Potomac River Waterfowl Show at the St. Mary’s County Fairgrounds in
Leonardtown, MD. The show features dozens of award-winning artists
showcasing their world-class wildlife art both at a dinner reception and
day-time fair.
Tickets
are now on sale for the Cattails and Cocktails Reception and Dinner on Friday
evening from 6 – 9 p.m. For $50 per person, enjoy a sit down dinner by Outback
Steakhouse and open bar. The purchase of your ticket(s) reserves your seat.
Tables of eight are $400. Also, spotlight your business through a sponsorship
while supporting this great event. Individual tickets, tables or sponsorships
may be purchased online at www.cfsomd.org/waterfowlshow,
or mail a check payable to the Community Foundation of Southern Maryland.
The
show re-opens on Saturday at 10 a.m. and admission is $5 per person.
Experienced and novice decoy carvers may enter their creations in the show’s
decoy competition – registration is between 10 a.m. and noon; entry fees are
$10 for the first decoy and $4 for each additional entry.
Join
us in honoring Honorary Chairperson Tommy Deagle, Primitive Achery Equipment
artist Justin Bressler and many other award-winning artists that will be
featuring their work at the show. The full list of confirmed artists is
available on the show’s webpage. Along with the work on display,
attendees are able to purchase contemporary and antique decoys, carvings, prints
and original artwork directly from the artists. Entrance to both the
dinner and daytime event will give you access to the following additional
activities:

run by the International Wildfowl Carving Association

Steppin' Out in Leonardtown this Spring
Steppin' Out in Leonardtown this Spring
Visitors and residents are invited
to Leonardtown for a series of five weekends in April and May during the
Steppin' Out in Leonardtown spring campaign.
Each Steppin' Out in Leonardtown
weekend will include a signature event and theme
from Earth Day to Armed Forces
weekend.
Participating shops and restaurants
around town will offer thematic deals and coupons and host activities and
special events during these weekends.
Earth Day weekend kicks off the
campaign on April 19-21 with a focus on all things fresh,
green and local, culminating with
Sunday's annual Earth Day on the Square celebration.
Fabulous Fifties weekend takes place
April 28-29 and features the St. Mary's Rod & Classic Spring Fling Car Show
and all things retro.
The town celebrates May Day and
Cinco de Mayo, with a Fiesta First Friday and Latin flavors all weekend, May
3-5.
Celebrate Marvelous Moms the weekend
of May 10-12, with the SOMD Fashion Flea Market produced by 3 Chicks Promotions
and a fashion show on the Leonardtown Wharf and specials, lunches and brunches
at local shops and restaurants.
The campaign wraps up the weekend of
May 17-19 with "Heroes Welcome," an Armed Forces day salute to the
troops.
The Steppin' Out in Leonardtown
campaign is a cooperative effort made by the Commissioners of Leonardtown, the
Leonardtown Business Association and St. Mary's County Division of Tourism.
