Downtown Sidewalk Snow and Ice Control Program

The Commissioners of Leonardtown are currently accepting bids to perform downtown sidewalk snow and ice removal services within the corporate limits of Leonardtown. Approximately 1.7 miles of municipal sidewalks in the downtown business district will be included in the contract.

Since bidders will have different equipment, the contract will be awarded on a “best value” basis. The bid will consist of hourly rates for various pieces of equipment. The bid will be for one two-year term with two two-year options.

A pre-bid conference will be held on November 16, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Town office conference room. A bid opening will be held December 1, 2017 at 10:00 a.m., at which time they will be publicly opened and read.

The Commissioners of Leonardtown reserve the right to reject any and all bids and proposals, and to accept any proposal deemed to be in the best interest of the Town.

Rte 5 and Washington Street - DETOUR Upgrade Work - October 22 to October 26

The Commissioners of Leonardtown will be upgrading the Water System from the intersection of MD Rte. 245 and MD Rte. 5 heading South on Rte. 5 to Rose Hill Dr. at Academy Hills.

The work will start 10/22/2017 and End 11/30/2017 weather permitting.

The work hours will be from 9pm to 5am Sunday night thru Thursday night.

The entrance of Washington St. (off of Rte. 5) will be closed 10/22 thru 10/26 from 9pm to 5am.  

A detour will be setup at the intersection of MD Rte. 245 and MD Rte. 5 during the Washington Street work.

The remaining duration of the project will consist of a shoulder work and Lane closure as the project moves South on MD Rte. 5.

Fire Sprinkler and Fire Alarm System Installation
Commissioners of Leonardtown

The Commissioners of Leonardtown are seeking proposals from interested companies to install a dry, automatic fire sprinkler system and a fire alarm system in the Town Hall located at
22670 Washington Street, Leonardtown.

All work should be done in accordance with NFPA-13 and state and local codes. Parties interested in submitting a proposal should contact the Town Administrator by calling 301-475-9791 or by email at Laschelle.mckay@leonardtownmd.gov.

 A site visit is recommended to obtain an understanding of the project. Proposals will be accepted
until 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 17, 2017.

The Town reserves the right to reject any or all bids, vary the specifications of those set forth, and impose such additional or further specifications as, in its discretion, it determines to be in the public interest.

TONIGHT, FRIDAY, October 13, 7 p.m. service, 8 p.m. procession. Fatima Centenary Mass & Procession starting at St Aloysius Catholic Church. A large crowd is expected. Please come early for parking and be cautious of pedestrians throughout the Town. Drivers should expect delays from 8 - 10 p.m.
Saturday, October 14, 8:30 a.m., SMR / Blaine Whorl 5K Run/Walk St. Mary's Ryken High School for their homecoming SMR 5K/Blaine Whorl Memorial Run. You can register for the 5K the day of the event for $30, SMR Staff/Faculty/Student discounts are available. Prizes will be awarded for the top qualifiers and prizes for the kids 500 meter pumpkin dash, There will be music, refreshments, games and fun for the whole family. All of the proceeds will go towards the Blaine Whorl Scholarship.

Tractor Parade Saturday 10/8

We are watching the weather closely for Sunday, but as of right now, the parade is going to proceed as scheduled! If the Antique Power Association decides they need to cancel, it will be posted here. Parade starts at Leonardtown Elementary School at 1 p.m. and proceeds trough the streets of Town. At the end of the parade there will be a static display of tractors and antique trucks available for pictures, as well as the announcement of award
and raffle winners.

Town Council Meeting moved to Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.

In observance of Columbus Day, the Town of Leonardtown offices will be closed.  The Town Council meeting has been moved to Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. with a Workshop on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at 4:00 p.m.
