Scarecrow Making and Trick-or-Treat
Enjoy all the festivities of fall in Downtown Leonardtown on Saturday, October 30th. The Southern Maryland Artisan Center is sponsoring “Scarecrow Making” on the Square from 1:00- 3:00 p.m. The cost is $8 to make your life size scarecrow and includes all supplies. For all ages. Perfect for fall decorating!
Between 3:00-4:00 p.m., children, accompanied by a parent or guardian, can dress up in their Halloween costume and walk around the Leonardtown Square “trick-or-treating” with participating downtown merchants. Bring a goodie bag for your candy and treats! This free, kid-fun activity with plenty of treats is sponsored by the Leonardtown Business Association. Williamsburg Condo Raffle to Benefit St. Mary's Nursing Center
The St. Mary’s Nursing Center Foundation is raffling two (2) Powhatan Plantation condos for one week in colonial Williamsburg. The condos were donated by Pam and Greg Herold. Tickets are three (3) for $5 and the drawing will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the ‘Tree of Remembrance’ celebration at the Nursing Center. Star Ornaments from St. Mary's Nursing Center
The St. Mary’s Nursing Center Foundation is selling a five point stained glass "Star" ornament for $20. There only 200 of these exquisite ornaments made by local artist, Nancy Wathen exclusively for the Foundation. This is the last of this series. For 2010 the “Star” is teal edged in silver. Hurry and place your order before December 3rd. The Foundation’s annual ‘Tree of Remembrance’ celebration will be held on Thursday, December 9, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. at the Nursing Center. During the celebration your loved ones names are read and the ornaments are given to family members/friends. After the remembrance celebration everyone enjoys a great buffet among family and friends. If you are not able to attend the celebration, your ornament will be waiting for you at the front desk at the Nursing Center, to be picked up after December 9th. Donations in lieu of having an ornament are greatly appreciated. Your donation will go to a special fund to support projects that enhance the residents’ quality of life. Heavnely Presents Grand Opening Oct 22/23
Heavenly Presents Grand Opening Celebration is happening on Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23. Friday there will be music and prayer on Leonardtown Square from 6 pm until 9pm. On Saturday there will be a prayer walk starting at 9am followed by the Blessing of the store at 9am. There will be live music throughout the day, children’s story readings, book signing, refreshments, shopping and family fun! Stop by anytime Saturday between 9am and 3pm. Blue Grass for Hospice on Oct. 23
The 2nd Annual “Bluegrass for Hospice” music festival, food drive, and craft fair is on Saturday, October 23, 2010 from noon until 9:00 pm. The event is at Flat Iron Farm on Flat Iron Road in Great Mills, MD. All proceeds will be used for the Hospice House in St. Mary’s County. Tickets are $20.00 before October 16 and $25.00 at the gate. There will be music, a $500.00 raffle, door prizes, silent auctions, craft fair and children’s activities. Food will be available for sale by Thompson’s Catering, B.Y.O.B. Also, please bring a non-perishable food item to help replenish the Southern Maryland Food Banks.
