Christmas on the Square and Annual Tree Lighting in Leonardtown
Ring in the holiday season on Friday, November 25th from 5:00 PM - 9:00 PM in the Leonardtown Town Square! Leonardtown’s annual "Christmas on the Square" and "Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony" will be held on Washington Street in Historic downtown Leonardtown. Santa’s arrival and lighting of the Town Christmas Tree takes place at 7:00 PM
Enjoy a variety of entertainment, including holiday music, sleigh rides, horse & carriage rides, train rides, hay rides, fire truck rides, petting zoo, live nativity, Christmas carols, face painting, make-and-take crafts, festive decorations, food and much more! You can also check out the Christmas Festival at Winegardner Auto Showroom, the Gingerbread House at Kevin’s Corner Kafe, the Leonardtown Arts Center, and a presentation of “A Christmas Carol” on Fenwick Street. Many downtown merchants and art galleries will also remain open for your Christmas shopping needs! Performers on stage include Bella School of Music, the St. Aloysius Spirit Singers, Leonardtown Middle School Chorus, St. Mary’s Ryken Chorus, Gracie’s Guys and Gals Dance Troupe, the Southern Maryland Boot Scooters, Leonardtown Baptist Church Choir, and Piney Point Elementary Chorus! Be sure to keep an eye out for Frosty the Snowman, the Christmas Elf, Mrs. Claus, and of course, the big guy himself, Santa Claus!
Several streets in the downtown Leonardtown Square area will be closed to thru traffic from 3:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Parking will be limited to accessible streets and designated parking lots. You are encouraged to park at the College of Southern Maryland and take the free shuttle bus service provided by Carter Bus Service to the Leonardtown Square.
